How to Obtain a Special Permission Number
It is often possible to enroll in a closed section of a course offered by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science if you take the following steps:

Attend the first class.

After the first class, tell the instructor that you would like to enroll in the course. Also, let the instructor know if you are a graduating senior.

If there is room in the class the instructor may choose to give you a special permission number. PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE GIVEN A SPECIAL PERMISSION NUMBER.

Take the special permission number to the Rutgers Registrar’s Office located in Blumenthal Hall, 3rd floor to enroll in the course.
