The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Rutgers University-Newark offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, and Information Systems in the Newark College of Arts and Sciences and in the University College.  The Department also offers a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences.  This is a joint Ph.D. program with the New Jersey Institute of Technology.  Here, combined graduate faculties from both institutions provide research opportunities in a variety of fields including:   Algebra, Analysis, Geometric Group Theory, Kleinian Groups, Low-dimensional Topology, Mathematical Physics, Number Theory, Representation Theory and Teichmüller Theory.
